Even before Covid-19 pandemic ravages the world, hepatitis is already a devastating infectious cause of death. It claims about 1.4 million lives every year, which is second only to TB and it does not stop being dangerous just because Covid-19 is gaining more prominence.
Due to lack of awareness, many people do not realize too that 9 times more people are infected with hepatitis rather than HIV around the world. Therefore, we would like to urge everyone to help raise awareness concerning hepatitis, especially with regards to its vaccination and
treatment coverage. Let us play our role in the best way possible according to our capabilities as students and future professionals in science and healthcare related fields.
Together we can help to eliminate hepatitis as a major public health threat by the year 2030 as per WHO target.Thank you.Wassalam.
